To the lagoon at Rørsetholmen

Molde

The trail at a glance

Midsund is an idyllic island landscape far out in Romsdalsfjord. You can only reach it by ferry from the mainland in Mordalsvågen, just a short trip. This paddling route starts from Vågsmyran and takes you to a small, hidden lagoon and beach at Rørset. Here you will have beautiful views of the fjord and Jendemsfjellet mountain, and it's a great place for a swim.

Route description

This route begins from the boat harbour at the bottom of the cabin neighbourhood of Vågsmyran. Here there are good opportunities for launching your kayak either from the floating dock or near the established spot on the beach for boat launches. From here, paddle out through the harbour and follow the shoreline to the right of Vebergvika, Steinvika and Grønvika. From Grønvika, paddle out into the bay in the direction of Litleskjeret. From here, you can see Langskjæret and onward towards Rørsetholmen. Just after you have paddled past Langskjæret, you will enter the lagoon in Skjervika. This is an excellent swimming spot! Return along the same route. This route requires good skills for assessing wind, weather, currents and boat traffic. Since the launch site has been facilitated with both a floating dock and sandy beach, it is easy to get in and out. The route itself leads close to land in waters without islands and reefs, and large sections of the route are exposed to the open sea. So be wary of changes in weather and conditions. Expect some boat traffic.
