The trail begins on a broad good quality forest road and goes past rocky crags and through a nice and large pine forest. There will also be more open sections of broad-leaf forest from time to time. You will get a nice view over the fjord in the direction of Ramstaddalen and Søvika, east towards Prestevøren in Sjøholt, and west towards Valle in Skodje Municipality. After the first ascent, you will see Langskipsøya Island below. The view is clear from the ridge of the hill and you can see the fjord and mountains. The view is especially nice at the beginning of the trail over Tøssa and at the end in Kleivane. You will find an abandoned small farm in Kleivane. The place offers a panoramic view over the fjord and the mountains of Sunnmøre. The trail is suitable for a family hike with an opportunity to pick up blueberries and cranberries when the season is right.
We recommend following the same route back. Alternatively, you can go straight down to E39 from Kleivane, but there is no walkway for the entire stretch of the road back to the starting point.
Route description
Start walking from the bus stop east of the road turn in Tøssa. Walk east along the walkway for about 200 metres. The walkway will soon change to a gravel road. Turn off to the right after about 100 m and follow a good quality forest road which gradually becomes worse. The forest road soon goes up and to the east. You will get a great view over the fjord and mountains here. After 1.6 km, you will find a Stikk Ut trail postbox. Follow the forest road which then turns into a clear and good quality path and goes through the pine forest until you reach an open area in Kleivane. You will find a trail postbox installed by Ørskog Sports Association about 100 metres up the path that goes further to Mount Liafjellet.
