This trail is suitable for everyone no matter the age or fitness level. Families with children who like fishing will especially enjoy it. You are guaranteed to catch some small fish in a pond called Saltjønna that you walk by. You can also catch larger edible fish in Lake Salvatna. Make fresh coffee on the campfire and try your fishing luck while enjoying the view of the mountains Kufjellet and Skåkleiva.
After parking at Gammelsetra, follow the gravel road past the farm. The road will first take you down a steep hill. Cross a stream at the bottom of that hill and turn right at the junction. Follow the gravel road as it climbs up a steep hill and keep to that road. It will later change into a path which will take you to a marshy area called Vidslittet. After passing Vidslittet, you will come to the stream, Saltjønnbekken, and then a small but steep hill called Johannesdetten. From the top of that hill, you can see an old hay meadow called Høggjøtå on your right. You will soon need to cross Saltjønnbekken one more time. Continue following the path as it climbs a hillside and then runs along Saltjønna, a pond where you are guaranteed to catch some small fish. After passing Saltjønna on your left, continue walking up until you come to a fork in the path. You are now a short distance away from the trail postbox. You can either go back or continue walking for another five minutes to Lake Salvatna where you can enjoy some fresh coffee on the campfire, try fishing, or just take a dip in the lake.
Follow FV65 in the direction of Dønnem and Fiske and turn off that road in Åmot. Turn right after the bridge and then left up Dalseggveien Road. Soon after the farm that lies at the highest point of Dalsegglia Hill, you must pay the toll fee. Follow the road all the way up to Nordmarka past a large car park and continue for about a kilometre until you reach the mountain farm Gammelsetra where you can leave your car at the signposted car park on your right-hand side.
