This lovely trail follows a gravel road and a farm road. Salthammersetra is a summer mountain farm with a flat and beautiful pasture that offers a great view in the direction of Helland, Vikebukt, and Molde. It is also a starting point for many other hiking destinations in the area.
Salthammersetra is located slightly below the trail destination, and its official name is actually Remmemssetra. The name “Salthammersetra” is common in everyday use.
Follow the gravel road from the car park for about 2 km uphill. In summer, it is possible to drive up the toll road (NOK 30) to the upper car park. In that case the trail will be about 1 km shorter both ways.
At the end of the gravel road (2 km), go left over the bridge across the river and continue walking along a forest road. After about 300 metres, take the right turn onto another forest road that goes along the southern side of the valley. Follow this road up to the mountain farm. You will find a trail postbox where the road flattens out and you see the first cabins. The trail is marked with red arrows at all junctions and up towards the trail postbox at the top.
To get to the starting point of the trail, drive 200 metres south of the turnoff to the Shell petrol station in the centre of Vestnes to the roundabout. Take the first exit (Misfjordvegen Road) at the roundabout. After 500 m along Misfjordvegen Road past the nursery school, take the left turn. After 600 m, once you are on top of a hill, turn right. You will see a Stikk Ut sign here. After about 100 m, follow the road up as it takes a left turn. 300 m up on the hill, you will find two car parks both on your right and left-hand sides. It can be quite wet on the right side.
