Rotevassdalen to Rotevassetra
Volda
The Rotevassdalen Valley is a great skiing area. It is a good fit for both children and for people of different physical shape. It is also a good starting point for mountain ski trips, for instance, to the tops Koppefjellet or Skarphornet. There are many nice spots to stop along the way if you do not want to go all the way to the mountain farm Rotevassætra. A cabin at Rotevassætra is open for everyone to visit. Please remember to clean the cabin before you leave.
Start skiing from Krøvelseidet near the car park. The terrain is flat and suitable for touring or cross-country skis if you are not going up to any of the mountain peaks.
The distance from the centre of Volda to Krøvelseidet is about 6 km. Follow the signs for Fyrde (E39/RV651) and turn off to Vikebygda at a roundabout. Follow the main road, Vikebygdvegen, past the sign for the ski resort. You will soon reach a car park on the right side of the road. This is the starting point of the trail and a place where you can park.
The trail to Melshornet begins on the opposite side of the road.
Park your car at the starting point of the trail. If there are too many cars, you may have to park along the road.
