Prestaksla

The route to Prestaksla is a popular hiking destination for both residents in the area and for visitors. If you take the steps up to the top of Prestaksla, you will be rewarded with stunning views. The hiking trail to Prestaksla leads through the Prestaksla Nature Reserve.

Follow the signposted forest road through the spruce forest. Gradually, the forest road will turn into a path leading to steps that will take you up along the hillside. Once you have followed the steps about 200 metres, you will arrive at the Bugtasetra cabin. Continue up the steps. Above the tree line, you will have stunning views of Langfjord and the villages on the other side of the fjord. Just below, you will see the Nesset prestegard museum. On the route up to Prestaksla, you will pass a stone bridge and both smaller and larger rest stops. There is good signage along the way. The final stretch of the route leads along the ridge, on paths and rock.  At the top, you can choose whether to follow the same route back again, or do a loop via Stordalen. You will then return to the same path you followed on the way up, about 250 metres above Bugtasetra. The loops via Stordalen leads partly through a marshy section, and you will have to cross over down a steep mountainside. 

From Eidsvåg, follow the FV662 in the direction of Eresfjord. Once you have passed the Nesset Prestegard museum, take the first exit to the left and drive about 300 metres along the forest road. There is a parking area right by the trailhead.
