You will reach the height of 549 m above sea level in a half-hour walk from E39. Although this trail is short, you will get a real mountain experience at the top. You will get a fantastic view over the mountains and several summer mountain farms such as Kvanndalsætra and Skitnesætra, as well as two joint pastures (Ørskog and Engesetsætra). The area is snow free from the middle of May.
Once you complete the first steep section, you will come to a trigonometrical point, offering a bird’s eye view over Nysetra and Fjellstova. After a couple of hundred metres through a more gentle terrain, you will reach a cairn where you will also find a trail postbox with a registration journal. The path runs further north to a large flat stone that offers a great view towards the Skorgedalen area and the mountains tops Ytstetinden and Sprovstinden.
Follow the private road up through the cabin area in Nysetra. The path begins near two large stones just before you reach the topmost cabin. It is clearly seen in the terrain from the motor road as you complete the final ascent through the Landedalen Valley west of Nysætra. You can see that the path has been used a lot, and although it is quite steep along one of its sections, it is not difficult to walk on.
You will see the remains of the old Nyseterstova cottage east of E39, right across the Fjellstova cottages. A private road begins north of the remains and climbs up between the cabins.
Park your car along E39, by Resort Village Fjellstova Ørskogfjellet.
