The shoreline around Nesøya is diverse with both pine trees and deciduous trees, cosy coves and bluffs. Great views of Trollheimen and Sunndalsfjell. In good weather, you can also paddle this route by crossing from Tingvoll (2.8) or from Stangvik ( 2.3 km), or you can combine this with the route from Ålvundfjorden along Neslandet.
From the Nesøya leisure boat harbour in Øyabukta, it's a good idea to head south along the shoreline and pass beneath the bridge that leads out to Nesøya. Once you come out into the little sound, you can see straight towards Tingvoll. Continue northwest along the shoreline. There are numerous cabins along the first part of this stretch. After about 1.5 km of paddling, the cabins are fewer and there are many good places to go ashore. Along the last 400 metres to the point of Nesøya island are several cliffs and precipices, which make it difficult or nearly impossible to go ashore, and you may have to expect some reflected waves with northwesterly winds.
When arriving at the point of Nesøya island, you will have great views of the Trollheimen mountain range. It's easy to pass along the inside of this little islet. There are many cabins on the east side of Nesøya, but you can still find several quiet places to go ashore. Be cautious of boat traffic along this entire route, as this is a popular area for leisure boats.
Nesøya leisure boat harbour is a nice, sheltered place to launch your kayak. Nesøya Boat Association welcomes paddlers but urges them to show consideration when parking.
