This is an family-friendly trail that everyone can enjoy. The first section of the trail up to Lake Herdalsvatnet follows a solid gravel road. There are benches and tables near the lake to take a nice break from walking. You can also go fishing, swim or make a fire here. From here, a path will take you further up to Ljøbrekka. You will get a beautiful view of the Strandadalen valley from the top. It is also possible to continue walking down to Ljøen. You will then pass a fantastic viewpoint with a view over Sunnylvsfjorden in the direction of Meåkneset and Åkernesremna, and the view of Geirangerfjorden. It will take about 1 hour.
The trail gently climbs up through the valley. The surface is solid and nice to walk on. On your way up, you will get to enjoy the roar of the rivers that come down from the mountains. The ascent is about 400 m.
With this trail you can choose to do a round trip or follow the path further down to Ljøen. It is located on the other end of the tunnel. So it is convenient to have a car there.
