Elvastien is a scenic hiking trail that runs along the Ørskogelva River. Several wooden figurines are placed along the trail. The Elvastien trail is not cleared from snow in winter. You will pass the scenic Steinholt Bridge, the former bank building Gamlebanken, and the Sjøholt Hotel. Bankparken is an outdoor activity park with a playground for children and a pavilion with a model of the Sjøholt Hotel and an old portable engine.
Route description
You can start this circular route from anywhere you want, but we chose Ørskog Church as the starting point in this description. Follow the Elvastien Trail along the Ørskogelva River up to the Steinholt Bridge. Cross the river over the footbridge, follow the footpath under E39, and turn left in the pedestrian subway. Keep following the old road down to the centre. Turn left and walk through Bankparken behind the bank and Ørskog Community Centre. Follow the footpath through the pedestrian subway and continue along Kyrkjevegen Road back to the church. You can also take small detours to the marina, Måsøyra Activity Park, or Prestefjøra below the church.
