The trail at a glance

This lovely ski trail follows a road up to the Liasetra mountain farm. Lake Akslevollvatnet is beautifully located just by the trail. Once you come up to Liasetra, you will see an open cultural landscape with a great view of the Sykkylvsfjella mountains.

Route description

The starting point of this trail is Brauta in the Solnørdalen Valley. You will first go down a gentle slope and then walk up a relatively steep hillside. In the east, you can see a mountain range called Knippingen at 406 m a.s.l. When you reach a road crossing, keep to the left since the other road leads to Sjøholtsætra. After you have walked for about 1 km, the rest of the trail is relatively flat. You will walk along Lake Akslevollvatnet where there are many holiday cabins. A slight upward slope means that you have reached Liasetra. A traditional gapahuk shelter, Liahuken, is located right after the last cabin. There are tables, benches, and a place for a fire there. A trail postbox with a journal can be found next to the Liahuken trail shelter. If you follow the forest road for another 8.5 km further, you will reach Fjellstova Ørskogfjellet Cottages. The trail can be just as great if you start from Fjellstova and go down to Brauta. Both trail alternatives are popular for walking on foot, cycling, and skiing.
