Kufjellet (1004 m a.s.l.) is the most popular skiing destination in the Vinddøldalen Valley. You will gradually ascent to the mountaintop right from the car park. You can choose for yourself whether to climb a steep slope or follow a more moderate route. The way up to the mountaintop takes less than 2 hours at a leisurely pace. There are no particularly steep sections so this ski trip can be tackled by most people. The open mountainside offers an exciting downhill slope which is suitable for both experienced skiers and beginners. From the mountaintop, you will get a fantastic view over the Vinddøldalen Valley and see the peaks Snota, Fruhøtta, and Rognebba.
There are several alternative starting points for a ski trip to Mount Kufjellet. If you park your car by Pebua, you can continue past the boom gate for a couple of hundred metres before crossing the river. Ski right up the mountain, and when the terrain flattens out, start moving north until you reach the mountain ridge that you need to follow all the way to the top.
It is also possible to cross the river over the bridge about 400 m before Pebua. From the bridge, begin ascending the slope southwards and continue along the route as described above. On your way downhill, you have the entire mountainside to enjoy.
Drive along RV65 between Surnadal and Rindal municipalities. Take the exit road that is signposted to Vindøldalen just off Røv. Drive up the toll road, which is cleared from snow in winter, for about 11 km until you reach the car park by Pebua.
The toll fee is NOK 60.
