This straightforward trail runs through an easily accessible hiking area that both children and adults can enjoy. You will quickly get away from the traffic in the city centre and enjoy a pleasant view of Ørskogvika Bay and the settlements of Ørskog. In summer, you can enjoy the sun shining until late in the evening.
The trail offers great outdoor experiences with both flowers and trees, birds, squirrels, and other animals you can meet on your way. Even badgers have been seen in the area! It is also a popular spot for picking berries. You can also try fishing on the rocks down by the sea. The road that leads to Hestvika was built in connection with the logging industry development in the area. You can bring a stroller on this trail.
If your trail destination is the Stikk Ut trail postbox in Hestvika, turn off the forest road after 1.4 km. You will find a Stikk Ut trail postbox on a pine tree after 100 m down the path. The forest road itself ends at a large timber stacking area with a bench to sit on.
Route description
The trail starts at the car park south of the football pitch and runs south past Sjøholt Camping and further west along Ørskogvika Bay. The largest part of this trail runs along a well-maintained forest road. The final section is a good quality prepared path that takes you down to a bare rock area and a Stikk Ut trail destination. The terrain is mostly flat with a few gentle slopes. The road standard makes the trail easily accessible for both people with strollers and cyclists. You might see some cars on your way, but the boom gate across the road limits the traffic.
Access and parking
Follow the signs for Sjøholt Camping from the centre of town. Drive past Ørskog Church and the Ørskog Priest’s House. Before reaching the Sjøholt school, turn right and then left in the direction of the Ørskoghallen sports complex and the Ørskog Stadium.
You can park your car next to the football pitch.
