Haralddalssætra is a summer mountain farm at the furthest point of Austefjorden. The farm is beautifully located by a small lake. The largest section of the trail follows a forest road, while the final section follows a path.
The starting point of the trail is in Høybakk, the furthest point of the Sunndalen Valley. Follow the forest road. The middle part of the road has no asphalt surface. After you walk onto a gravel surface again, the road splits. At this point, you will be at the height of around 300 altitude metres (N62° 02.288’ E6° 19.708’). Take the road to the left and follow it until it ends. From here to the beginning of the path, there is little ascent to deal with. Follow the path further to Haralddalssætra along the right side of the river. On your way back, you can choose to walk through the forest when you come down to the forest road. (The path begins at N62° 02.492’ E6° 20.563') The path is unclear so you need to have the experience of hiking through rough terrain if you choose this route. Please also keep in mind that you will have to cross the river.
Drive along E39 from Volda towards Stryn. After you pass the Fyrdsberg Tunnel, turn off onto RV651 in the direction of Straumshamn. Drive past the toad sculpture and follow the sign for Straumshamn at the bridge. About 200 m after the bridge, you will see a sign for Sunndalen. Follow Sunndalsvegen Road until you reach Høybakk at the furthest point of the Sunndalen Valley. Start walking from the postboxes where you can buy a fishing licence.
Park your car along the road in Høybakk, Sunndalen.
