Bjergane is a small hilltop that offers a beautiful view of the mountains on the mainland and the ocean in the opposite direction. The path was upgraded in summer 2015 and officially opened in autumn. The path is wide and nice to walk on in all kinds of weather with the whole family. The trail is also suitable for walking with a baby carriage.
Route description
The trail starts from the Harøy church where you will find a car park. The hiking path starts on the left of the graveyard, goes slightly downhill and turns right following the Stikk Ut sign. Then the path continues through open terrain towards Bjergane. You will see a Stikk Ut trail postbox at the top of this small hill on your left-hand side. Once you climb up to about 10–20 metres, you can enjoy the view from the picnic bench that is set up there. You will find a trail postbox near the bench. You have two options here. You can either go back the same way you came or continue walking further towards Myklebust. For the second option, follow the wide path until you see a gravel road on your left-hand side. The upgraded path ends here, but if you want, you can follow an unprepared path up towards Harøyburet (this path is not suitable for baby carriages and we recommend wearing waterproof shoes if you go there). If you want to walk to the Stikk Ut trail postbox for Harøyburet, we recommend that you follow the description of the relevant trail. The Stikk Ut trail as shown on the map only follows the well-prepared path.
You will find a Stikk Ut trail postbox on Bjergane, a small hill that will be on your left-hand side.
The upgraded path continues further from the hill and ends with a gravel road on the left side. From here, you can either return to the starting point the same way you came, or follow the gravel road down to County Road 210 (Fv210) and walk along that road back to the car. In that case the trail will be much longer.
Another option is to continue walking from the gravel road further up towards Harøyburet. This route is not shown on the map, because that path is unprepared and partly wet.
