Gamleåsen from Hjørungavåg
Hareid
Short, child-friendly hike with magnificent views of the Vartdal Fjord and the Vartdal mountains. There is a bench along the trail, which is a popular place to stop for a break.
From the parking area, continue about 600 metres to Hamnavegen before turning right to Korshamna. Keep going onto Åsevegen. Follow the gravel road inward. Eventually, you will arrive at a private farm where a trail has been established further down to the left. In exceptional cases, where someone is unable to walk the trail (e.g. with a pram), they can cross the farmyard. Stay on the trail until you reach the destination at Gamleåsen.
From the village centre, turn to merge onto National Road 5886. Continue about 5 km until you exit towards Vågsvegen and stay on the right onto Hamnavegen. Parking at the football pitch. Free parking.

The house at the destination was probably built between 1875 and 1899. It is one of the oldest buildings in the municipality. The farmyard here was called "Gamleåsen" ("Old Hill"). Another good trail to Åsefjell can be accessed if you turn right just before you reach the private farmyard. From Gamleåsen, continue on to Engeskaret through the woods.
