This nice trail is accessible for the majority of people. The trail passes through a beautiful coastal landscape with hills, marshes, heather areas, areas of clay and small ponds along the way. It is a wonderful place for evening walks with beautiful sunsets in the west offering great photo opportunities.
Route description
Start walking from the car park following a hiking trail surfaced with fine gravel which will then take you across the hills, marsh and heathland. The path runs along the seaside and offers a great view over Tangefjorden and Harøyfjorden, as well as the islands beyond. The path is clear all the way to the Stikk Ut trail postbox which is placed below one of the highest hills on the outside of the isthmus, with a great view of Kvalvika and the mountain ranges on the islands of Otrøya and Midøya. You will also come across a path that goes in the direction of Kvalvika where you will find a nice beach. During low tide there is a very large area of clay beach there which is really worth visiting.
Access and parking
Turn off from the national road in the direction of Tangen on the outside of Otrøya Island (at the sign). Drive all the way up to Tangen where the road splits. Take the left turn. There is a car park at the end of the road.
