This trail runs along Liavegen, a forest road that goes from Kvam to Kringsjå. There are plenty of nice places to stop and enjoy a fantastic view of the fjords and mountains along the way. The starting point of the trail is easily accessible from both the east and the west, and the trail is quite easy to follow, since you will be walking on a gravel-surfaced path and forest road the entire time.
Route description
The most convenient starting point for this trail is the Hatleli Tunnel in Kringsjå, and this is where the trail starts as shown on the map. Alternatively, you can start the trail from the west, at the water tower in Kvam. From the car park next to the Hatleli Tunnel, follow the asphalt walkway for about 50 metres until you reach “Grua” (the “fire place”) where the path starts. Follow the western path as it climbs up for about 200 metres until you reach a junction. Turn left here and follow the wide hiking trail which goes west. The path runs along the backside of the uppermost row of houses in Kringsjå. After a couple of hundred metres you will come to a new junction. Turn onto Liavegen Road from here and continue walking westwards. The road is wide and easy to walk on. You will pass several areas where you might see piles of timber stacked along the way.
You will find the trail postbox just south of the road at a small rest area with a stone table.
