Kringstadnakken

Molde

The trail at a glance

A trail to Kringstadnakken is perfect for an afternoon walk but also a Sunday hike with the family. There is a bench and a trail postbox with a journal at the hilltop, which offers a scenic view of the Romsdalsfjorden in the south and Kringstadsetra in the north. If you walk to a viewing point called Utsikten further down, you will get to enjoy a panoramic view of the Romsdalsfjorden and the Sunnmørsalpane mountain range in the south.

Route description

Follow the tractor road towards the mountain farm Kringstadsetra. The road will flatten out after two steep hills. Turn right and follow the tractor road northeast just before the road to Kringstadsetra takes a gentle downhill turn. After about 1 km, the road turns west again. The tractor road later turns into a path that follows the neck of the hill up to the top. We recommend taking a detour down to Utsikten from the hilltop. You will see a sign and a well-defined path that leads to this viewing point. For an alternative route back, follow a path called Skogsstien that mostly runs through the forest. Some sections of this path are covered with roots and stones, and it can be wet during periods of heavy rain.

Arrival and parking

To get to the starting point of the trail, drive west along National Road 662 (RV662) from the centre of Molde until you reach Kvam after about 4 km. About 1.2 km west of the Kvam junction, you can stop at the designated car park on the southern (lower) side of RV662. The trail starts along a tractor road on the opposite side of RV662. Park your car along the southern side of the road about 1.2 km west of the Kvam junction.
